FC Ryukyu player Wan Zack Haikal has picked up a serious knee injury in training.
PETALING JAYA: The speedy Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor has picked up a serious knee injury during training with his club FC Ryukyu in Japan.
The 22-year-old former Harimau Muda A midfielder is a key player for the national team as well as the national Under-23 squad ahead of the Myanmar SEA Games in December.
National Under-23 coach Ong Kim Swee expressed concern over Wan Zack’s injury.
“I really do not know the extent of his injury but from what I have gathered from Wan Zack and Ryukyu FC team officials ... it is quite serious. I was told that he picked up the knee injury while training with the club on Tuesday,” said Kim Swee.
The former international said there were plans to bring Wan Zack home for treatment provided the player could obtain clearance from his club.
“We are still negotiating with the club as Wan Zack is still under contract, We are hoping that we can treat him at home and monitor his progress,” said Kim Swee.
