JDT's Safee Sali dribbles past T-Team's Mazlizam Mohamad during their Malaysia Cup match on Aug 27, 2013. JDT won the match 3-2.
KUALA TERENGGANU: It was a goal fest at the Sultan Ismail Stadium Tuesday night as Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) edged T-Team 3-2 in an exciting Malaysia Cup Group B fixture.
The star-studded JDT looked set for a comfortable win as they led 2-0 in the first half.
Hadin Azman opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and national striker Safee Sali put his name on the scoresheet with an impressive bicycle kick goal.
The homesters, however, found a new breath of life in the second half.
They clawed back in the 48th minute when Syamim Yahya headed home a Mazlizam Mohamad cross.
But JDT stretched the lead again, this time through national forward Norshahrul Idlan Talaha in the 60th minute.
T-Team then suffered a major setback when Saiful Mustafa was given the marching orders in the 73rd minute.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, T-Team managed to score another goal in the 77th minute through substitute Fazuan Abdullah.
With the win, JDT are now second in the group with six points while T-Team, on three points, dropped to third.
At the Shah Alam Stadium, leaders PKNS FC maintained their 100% record with a comfortable 2-0 win over Felda Utd 2-0 to inch closer to a spot in the quarter-finals.
Liberian striker Patrick “Ronaldinho” Wleh was the Red Ants’ hero, scoring in the 35th and 52nd minutes.
