T-Team to miss Boateng against JDT

KUALA TERENGGANU: T-Team will be without star player George Boateng when they face fancied Johor Darul Takzim in a Malaysia Cup Group B match at the Sultan Ismail Stadium on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old former Dutch international was sent off in the 37th minute after receiving two yellow cards in T-Team’s 1-0 home defeat to PKNS on Saturday. He is banned for one match.

Besides Boateng, T-Team will also be without Syamim Yahya.

Coach Che Ku Marzuki Che Ku Mohd Nor, however, believes that T-Team are still capable of beating JDT despite the duo’s absence.

“We had the right mentality against PKNS. Although we were down to 10 men, we still managed to trouble PKNS. We were let down by our poor finishing,” said Che Ku Marzuki, better known as Jibang among the staff and supporters.

He added that star-studded JDT, who have national players like Safee Sali, Norshahrul Idlan Talaha and Safiq Rahim, would be a tough team to face but not impossible to beat.

“I want my players to go all out and win the match in front of our own fans,” said Che Ku Marzuki.

After two matches, PKNS are the surprise leaders with six points. T-Team are second with three points while JDT, also on three points, are third with an inferior goal difference. Felda are still without a point after two losses.
