PETALING JAYA: Frenz United Malaysia B will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run in the Asean Champions Trophy Under-15 football competition when they face Chonburi FC of Thailand in the first-leg of the semi-finals at the Chonburi Stadium on Friday at 8.30pm.
The Malaysians, who finished second in Group B with 20 points from five wins and five draws, need a favourable result to take home for the return-leg at the Janda Baik Stadium in Pahang on Aug 21.
Frenz United Malaysia B, under coach Zulkifli Samion, have conceded only four goals in the tournament, so far.
But the Malaysians face an acid test against the Thais, who have the best attack – having scored a whopping 33 goals in 10 matches. Sittichok Paso is their top scorer with 15 goals.
In the other semi-final, Frenz United Indonesia will host Frenz United Malaysia A in the first-leg tie at Stadium Jalak Harupat in Bandung Sunday at 4.30pm.
Twelve teams from 11 nations are competing in the four-month long championship, which offers US$100,000 (about RM327,000) in prize money.
The final will be on Aug 28 (first-leg) and Sept 1 (return leg).
