Frenz B storm into Asean Champions Trophy U-15 semis


PETALING JAYA: Frenz United Malaysia B are through to the Asean Champions Trophy Under-15 football semi-finals.

The Malaysians qualified for the knockout stage after Group B champions Frenz United Indonesia wrapped up their campaign in style by defeating Myanmar Mandalay FA 4-0 at the Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung yesterday.

Indonesia top the six-team standings with 26 points from 10 matches while Frenz United Malaysia B will finish runners-up after picking up an unassailable lead with 17 points from nine matches.

The Malaysians will wrap up their campaign against the Philippines at the Janda Baik Stadium in Pahang tomorrow.

Myanmar Mandalay FA are third with 12 points, followed by Laos and the Philippines who are tied on nine points. NFA of Brunei are last with one point.

In Group A, third-placed Frenz United Malaysia must beat Vietnam PVF Football Academy today to qualify for the semi-finals with leaders Chonburi FC of Thailand.

The Malaysian and Vietnamese sides will cross swords at the Thanh Long Sports Centre in Ho Chi Minh.

The Vietnamese side are in second spot with 20 points – two more than the Malaysians.
