PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby coach Ismail Zakaria wants his side to step up and be counted in the Malaysia Cup, which kicks off on Aug 20.
The club side finished runners-up in the Premier League this season to earn promotion to the Super League and a direct slot to the Malaysia Cup.
Ismail said they would use the Malaysia Cup as a selection trial to pick their players for next season’s Super League.
“It will serve as an extra motivation for the players to do better,” he added.
He said even Croatian hitman Karlo Primorac, the Premier League’s top scorer with 24 goals, would have to raise his game.
