KUALA LUMPUR: Food will be on sale for Muslim fans to break fast when they turn up to watch Chelsea in training at the Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday.
The English Premier League side, managed by Jose Mourinho, will train at the stadium from 6pm. The next day the Blues play a Malaysian Selection at the same venue at 9.45pm.
Julian Kam, the chief operating officer of ProEvents Sdn Bhd, said in Bangkok yesterday that they would make all the arrangements for the Muslim fans to break fast on Saturday and Sunday.
“This is to encourage the Muslim fans to come and support Chelsea,” added Julian.
To date, 32,000 tickets have been sold out for the match. The seating capacity at the stadium is 65,000. Julian believes Mourinho, dubbed the Special One, will attract a large turnout – even at the training session.
“He has been to Malaysia a few times but this is the first time he will train Chelsea in Malaysia. His training style is different from other coaches and fans should not miss the training session,” said Julian.
Chelsea are now in Bangkok. They will play against the Singha All-Star XI, who defeated Manchester United 1-0 last week, at the Rajamangala Stadium today.
Chelsea, however, will not have the services of Brazil’s David Luiz and Spain’s Fernando Torres and Juan Mata. The three have been given a break after playing in the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
The Blues will arrive in KL tomorrow. They will conduct a coaching clinic for 150 children at the Blue pitch in Kota Damansara on Friday.
“Four Chelsea players will conduct the coaching clinic. There will also be an autograph sessions for fans at the Saujana Hotel in Subang,” said Julian.
Ticket prices for the match are RM58, RM88, RM108 and RM388.
“Tickets were sold out when Chelsea played against Malaysia at the Shah Alam Stadium in 2008. I am expecting the same this time as Malaysian’s like to buy tickets at the last minute. They can purchase the tickets online or at the Shah Alam Stadium,” said Julian.
The tickets will be sold at the Shah Alam Stadium from 10am on Friday.
