Earlier Winger D.Saarvindran equalised for Harimau Muda A in the 70th minute after Ireland went ahead from Correy Davidson’s spot kick in the 64th minute.
Malaysia now will take on the loser of 5th-8th classification matches between Ukraine and Canada in their 7th-8th classification match on Tuesday.
The national Under-23 team, coached by Ong Kim Swee, are preparing for the Myanmar SEA Games in December. They lost 4-0 to defending champions Japan in the quarter-finals last Friday.
The Malaysians had advanced to the knockout stages after finishing as runners-up in Group C by defeating Italy 2-0 and losing 2-0 to Great Britain.
Malaysia finished 12th out of 16 teams in the last Games in Shenzhen in 2011.
