PETALING JAYA: The national cycling team will compete in the Ronda Filipinas, starting at the Quezon City Memorial Circle in the Philippines on Feb 1, as part of their build-up to the Le Tour de Langkawi.
Seasoned campaigner Mohd Fauzan Ahmad Lufti, however, will not be competing in the Ronda Filipinas after coming down with a back injury. Fauzan is also likely to miss the Le Tour de Langkawi from Feb 27-March 8.
In Fauzan’s absence, national coach Aminuddin Sulaiman has named Muhamad Rauf Nur Misbah, Suhardi Hassan, Mohd Nor Rizuan Zainal, Nik Mohd Azwan Zulkiflie, Mohd Ekbar Zamanhuri and Amirul Anuar Jafri for the 14-stage Tour around the mountains in Baguio.
Uzbekistan are the other national team invited to the Tour. Halmuratov Muradjan, a Terengganu Cycling Team rider, will lead the Uzbeks' challenge.
