Adiq Husainie Othman is looking for a new team that will accommodate his appearances with the national team.
PETALING JAYA: Adiq Husainie Othman is on the lookout for a new team as his Hong Kong-based outfit, Pro Continental team Champion System, are set to fold by the end of this year.
Adiq has spent two successful years with the team, who have to close shop after failing to secure a replacement sponsor for Champion System, a custom sportswear manufacturer, for next season.
The 22-year-old already has some offers and it’s just a matter of choosing the right team.
With the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, next year a main priority for him, Adiq is looking for a team which can accommodate his appearances with the national team.
“My agent is talking to the teams ... I have some offers from European and Australian outfits. But I haven’t decided on anything yet,” he said.
“My decision will be based on how I can feature with the national team for the Asian Games because there’s a big target for me next year.
“Of course the terms and conditions of the contract are also important ... I have to decide carefully before signing the deal.”
Team Champion System began in 2010 with the objective of becoming the first Asian outfit in the World Tour level in five years. However, the plan was for the company to sponsor only the initial years.
“I’m not worried about the situation because my agent is talking to several teams right now. What’s important is not to rush into signing deals that do not favour me,” he said.
