Former Chicago Bulls forward Dennis Rodman aka 'The Worm' is in town to take part in the Professional Basketball Alumni Association (PBAA) All Star exhibition game at Putra Stadium on Saturday.
PETALING JAYA: Fans of retired NBA stars Dennis Rodman and Jason Williams will not have to wait much longer to see their heroes.
The pair is set to arrive on Thursday, ahead of the Professional Basketball Alumni Association (PBAA) All Star match against MJ Life Asian All Star at the Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil, on Nov 2.
This will be Rodman and Williams’ second appearance with the PBAA All Stars here.
Last year, Chicago Bulls legend Rodman, famous for his piercings, tattoos and off-court antics, was the star attraction as the NBA legends defeated the Westports Malaysia Dragons 96-81 in an exhibition match.
Williams too wowed the crowd with his skills.
Besides Rodman and Williams, three other former NBA stars – Jerry Stackhouse, Latrell Sprewell and Doug Christie – will arrive in Malaysia for the first time.
The 38-year-old Stackhouse, who made his name with the Dallas Mavericks from 2004-2009, last played for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA season earlier this year and should still be fresh and ready to entertain the crowd.
The PBAA team will also comprise top dunker Guy Dupuy, Cliff Robinson, Jerome Holman, Antwan Scott, Charoy Bentley and Jerry Dupree. They will be coached by 1987 NBA All Star Eric Floyd.
In contrast, the Asian selection will feature two Malaysians – B. Guganeswaran and youngster Kuek Tian Yuan from the Dragons alongside a host of regional stars.
The other names include Japan’s Jun Iwasa, Filipinos Nino Canaleta and Rommel Adducul, 2.29m Iranian center Jaber Rouzbahani, New Zealand’s Cameron Stuart, Cameroon’s Chris Kuete and Nigerian Deola D’Brown Ade.
The Asian Selection will be coached by Goh Cheng Huat, with Malaysian national coach Paul Advincula assisting him.
Meanwhile, event organisers Xballer annouced that tickets for the match are still available.
