KUCHING: It was a day to savour for old-timer Lee Hyun-il of South Korea and newcomer Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold badminton championships at Stadium Perpaduan.
The 34-year-old Hyun-il finally tasted his first success on Malaysian soil when he bounced back to beat his gritty junior compatriot Jeon Hyeok-jin 19-21, 21-13, 21-15 to clinch the men’s singles title.
