SEPANG: National singles coach Hendrawan has finally come out to say what everyone already knows: “It is not possible to groom a world-class men’s singles player from the current back-up squad in the immediate future.”

He insisted that the next echelon of shuttlers like Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin and Goh Soon Huat as well as the younger ones like Soong Joo Ven and Soo Teck Zhi are still “works-in-progress”.
