KUALA LUMPUR: It is all over for Malaysia in the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC).
The Malaysian men’s and women’s doubles pairs, the only ones left in the fray, crashed out in the quarter-finals in Gimcheon, South Korea on Friday.
Men’s back-up doubles pair Low Juan Shen-Nelson Heg Wei Keat went down 18-21, 13-21 to China’s second liners Shi Longfei-Chen Zhuofu in 33 minutes.
Malaysia’s third-ranked women’s pair of Amelia Anscelly-Soong Fie Cho suffered the same fate, going down 12-21, 12-21 to India’s Ashwini Ponnappa-Jwala Gutta.
Meanwhile, five-time world champion Lin Dan of China stayed on track for his second Open title this year when he marched into the semi-finals with a 21-10, 21-7 win over China-born Wei Nan of Hong Kong in 34 minutes.
Lin Dan, who won the China Masters Grand Prix Gold at Changzhou on Sunday, will take on Liu Kai of China next.
