Independent shuttlers do well in Taiwan Open

Sisters Ng Hui Lin (left) and Hui Ern have a chance of avenging their World Championships defeat to Lee So-hee-Shin Seung-chin of South Korea, provided they make it to the semis.

KUALA LUMPUR: Independent shuttlers Ng Hui Lin-Ng Hui Ern kept the flag flying high for Malaysia’s women’s doubles shuttlers when they marched into the quarter-finals of the Taiwan Open Grand Prix Gold on Thursday.

The Britain-based sisters defeated Chen Pai-jou-Huang Mei-ching of Taiwan 21-18, 21-17 in the second round to set up a match against Wang Rong-Zhang Zhibo of Macau in the last eight.
