It's normal to send shuttlers home early, says BAM

IT is a normal practice for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to make early flight bookings for some of their players. And it has nothing to do with the national body’s lack of confidence in their players.

BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai said it was their standard operating procedure.

On Friday, a number of players were sent back home from the World Championships after they were ousted in their respective events in Guangzhou.

“Normally, we estimate and book flights for some players to go back early. If they win, we will then delay their flights to another date,” said Chin Chai.

“This time some of them are going back earlier because they will leave for India next week for the India Badminton League (IBL).”

The shuttlers who left on Friday were Liew Daren, Chong Wei Feng, Tee Jing Yi, Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei, Goh Liu Ying-Lim Yin Loo, Amelia Anscelly-Soong Fie Cho, Chan Peng Soon, Ong Jian Guo and Tan Aik Quan-Lai Pei Jing.
