Pistorius attends Pretoria hospital for mental tests

PRETORIA (Reuters) - South African Olympic and Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius checked in as a day patient to Pretoria's Weskoppies psychiatric hospital on Monday for the first day of a month of mental tests ordered by the judge overseeing his murder trial.

The 27-year-old track star, who faces life in prison if convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine's Day last year, sped past a scrum of waiting television cameras in a car with tinted windows.
