I CAN empathise with writer Gawain’s situation “Woes of a retiree from the private sector” (The Star, Oct 29). However, I feel that the most marginalised group in Malaysia are the permanent residents (PR) holding red identity cards (IC). I had permits to work in a private school, paid taxes, involved myself in the community and made donations for various causes.
But when I go to a government hospital, my fee is double that of a Malaysian citizen.
