IT was the practice some years ago to commence a course of anti-rabies vaccinations on the dog bite victims in areas where there have been confirmed cases of rabies in dogs.
The strain of rabies virus contained in the vaccine is weakened (attenuated) by having it passaged fifty times through rabbits.
