A bold initiative by Government

DEPUTY Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya is to be commended for highlighting the alarming teen pregnancy rate here and the social problems they cause during the launch of the National Contraception Workshop themed “Think Contraception, Think Wisely” at Selayang Hospital recently.

We hope the programme can be implemented without interference from certain quarters which have raised objections to teen sex education in the past. It will be even more effective if it is complemented with clinical services to teens who need them. Abstinence programmes have proven a failure wherever they have been implemented.
