A FEW years ago, I was in Subang Jaya near a shopping mall and a young couple approached me with the scratch and win lottery.
The lady asked me to scratch the lottery card and moments later she was jumping almost hysterically telling me that I had won the grand prize. She then asked me to go to her office in Puchong to claim the prize but I politely refused, saying that I was not free.
I asked her to send the prize to my house and I would give her RM500 for her effort. Deep inside, I knew that it was a scam.
Very often we read in newspapers of people being conned in all sorts of scams. The main reasons for being cheated are either they are gullible or greedy. Always remember there is no such thing as a free lunch.
