I REFER to your report “Forging unity through sports” (The Star, July 19), which recognised the potential of sports to help forge solidarity and cooperation and to foster tolerance in our country. It also acknowledged the need to strengthen efforts, including multi-stakeholder partnerships, at all levels to maximise sports’ potential in nation-building.

The late former President of South Africa and Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela once said: “Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way that little else can.”
