Honey, the price has gone up and it’s not GST

PROBABLY not many of The Star readers are consumers of good honey but there are cases of clear price manipulating and profiteering that I would like everyone to be aware of.

I have been a very loyal consumer of one particular brand of imported honey for over 25 years and I have seen the retailers raising the price of this brand from RM15 to the current price of between RM31 and RM41. The brand is from New Zealand and it is retailed at most high-traffic outlets or supermarkets in the city. There are several variants offered and I have no complaints about the quality. What I am concerned with is the sudden and unjustified jump in the price at different retailers since the implementation of GST.
