I REFER to the letter titled “Review the law on suicide” (The Star, June 25) by Tan Sri Lee Lam as well as the article “Don: It is an archaic law, kill it” (Sunday Star, June 21).
The Befrienders KL strongly endorses the viewpoints and recommendations put forward in both the letter and article. As one of the primary NGOs in the country that offer emotional support to the general public via our telephone helplines and email service, we are acutely aware that a significant percentage of the people who reach out to us for help are either harbouring suicidal thoughts or have attempted suicide in the past.
