WE refer to the impending decision of the Health Ministry (MOH) on the corporatisation of the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) as a separate private organisation.
While we laud the noble objective of increasing the independence and regulatory powers of the MMC, we wish to express our concern that this move may result in the MMC becoming a private money-generating organisation which will increase healthcare costs for the public.
