Towards a value-driven society by the year 2020

VISION 2020 was tabled by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1991 in conjunction with the Sixth Malaysia Plan. When asked by reporters recently, he explained that the Vision 2020 he envisaged was to be in a “different mould”. It was to be based upon a formula devised after taking into account the nation’s cultural and ethnic diversity.

Indeed, one of the main goals of Vision 2020 set out then was to establish a fully moral and ethical society, whose citizens are strong in religious and spiritual values and imbued with the highest of ethical standards.
