THE implementation of the Integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for students of higher learning institutions (IPT) render a promising branding for future graduates. Incorporating involvement in co-curricular activities as one of the elements to evaluate student’s CGPA is a pertinent and timely initiative that should be implemented under the 2015-2025 Malaysia Education Blueprint - Higher Education (PPM-PT).
Engagement in non-academic pursuits, in this case extracurricular activities, intensify graduates’ credentials and develop their employability skills. Soft skills namely teamwork, self-confidence, flexibility and leadership are among the wide-ranging added values a graduate could acquire through involvement in various programmes in their universities, bearing in mind that we now have to produce global players and not merely local champions.
