I READ with great relief when the Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced they will start checking cars retrofitted with unlawful and non-conforming HID and strobe lights.

As a frequent driver who drives to and from the workplace in the wee hours of the morning and right after nightfall, I had to contend with blinding lights from cars that had been fitted with HID lights which were not manufacturer-specified.
