I REFER to the letter “Is Uber taking us for a ride?” (The Star, Sept 24) by YS Chan on his thoughts concerning the Uber public transport enabling app available on smartphones/tablets.

The writer had commended the Road Transport Department and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) for announcing they will be taking action against the companies that are providing the vehicles to the public as well as the drivers concerned.
