Nishikori does Japan and Asia proud

JAPAN’S 24-year-old Kei Nishikori made history on Monday by becoming the first Asian-born male to contest the men’s singles final of a Grand Slam tennis tournament at the 2014 US Open – the event being one of the four most important and prestigious annual world tennis championships.

Although Nishikori lost in straight sets to Croatia’s Marin Cilic, his incredible path to the final saw him defeating three top 10 players en route to the final, including current world No.1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.
