Keep to the centre to avoid trouble

I REFER to the news report, “Jala: More should speak up against extremist views” (The Star, Aug 19) in which the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Idris Jala, was quoted as saying that certain problems in Malaysia in which there were an extreme polarity of views could be managed by adopting a moderate position.

“To adopt a moderate position one must be willing to compromise,” he said. “We cannot say that there is only one way to do it, which is my way. We must come to the centre.”
