IT is wrong to describe the shooting down of Malaysian Airline flight MH17 and the tragic deaths of the 298 passengers on board as an “aviation disaster”. It is not. It is a military disaster.
There is a war going on where the plane was shot down with the use of sophisticated military weaponry. The deaths of 298 civilians is what is known in military parlance as “collateral damage”.
