JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Demands for billions of dollars of extra funding for Israel's military have set the scene for a bruising political battle over the budget, as the country tries to balance the needs of a weakening economy with security threats from Gaza to Iran.
The defence ministry is seeking nearly 70 billion shekels (£11.8 billion) in the 2015 budget, an increase of $3 billion (£1.8 billion) over 2014, as it settles the bills from its Gaza war and draws up plans to confront enemies on other borders.
