ROME (Reuters) - The former leader of Italy's centre-left Pier Luigi Bersani was hospitalised for a brain haemorrhage on Sunday, less than a year after he resigned as head of the Democratic Party (PD) following party upheaval and a disappointing election.
The 62-year old was taken to the hospital on Sunday and underwent an operation to address a brain haemorrhage, hospital authorities said. His unexpected illness prompted an outpouring of sympathy and support from both supporters and former rivals.
