MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia has asked France to extradite Kazakh oligarch banker Mukhtar Ablyazov, accused of embezzling up to $6 billion (3.8 billion pounds) from his former bank BTA, Russia's deputy prosecutor general was reported as saying on Wednesday.
Ablyazov, 50, who had been in hiding since he was sentenced to jail in Britain 18 months ago, was arrested near the Riviera resort of Cannes in July and has been in custody since.
