DHAKA: Bangladesh’s main opposition leader Khaleda Zia (pic) went on trial charged with embezzling US$650,000 (RM2.1mil) in two corruption cases that could see her jailed for life if found guilty.
Zia, the leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) who twice served as prime minister, was excused from attending the hearing on security grounds.
