TOKYO: More than a quarter of Japan's new cabinet will be female, reports said Wednesday, as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe leads by example in a country economists say must make better use of its highly-educated but underemployed women.
It comes after Abe has repeatedly declared his aim of having 30 percent of senior business and political positions occupied by women by 2020, as part of an effort to plug a gap in the labour market.
