More mobility: Radin Mas SMC MP Sam Tan launching the start of the scooter service with senior citizens. - The Straits Times/ Asia News Network
SENIOR citizens at Radin Mas have a new way of getting around their estate. They can hire an electric scooter for free to run errands.
The scooters are parked at the two community centres and four Senior Activity Centres in the estate. The seniors can use them for up to two hours each time. There will be staff and volunteers at the centres to teach them how to operate the scooters.
The fleet of 30 scooters, which come fitted with a basket for storing groceries, were bought by the Radin Mas Citizens’ Consultative Committee for S$35,000 (RM86,685), which was donated by the Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple. Seniors are only allowed to ride them on the pavements, as they are not allowed on public roads. — The Straits Times/ Asia News Network
