Woman jailed for hurting nurse

AN unemployed woman was jailed for four weeks for kicking a staff nurse in the abdomen.

Audrey Neoh Sok Hoon, 34, admit­­­­ted causing hurt to the 25-year-old victim who was seven weeks pregnant at Ward 3 of Alexandra Hospital on Feb 17.

A court heard that Neoh was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital on Feb 16 after suffering from fits. She requested to be transferred to Alexandra Hospital which had her medical reports.

At about 11.20am the next day, the victim was attending to a patient when she heard Neoh talking loudly over the phone. The victim then walked over to Neoh and proceeded to ask Neoh to lower her voice.

Neoh then kicked her in the abdomen. The victim experienced abdominal discomfort but no bruising was noted. A second charge of using abusive words on the victim was taken into consideration.

Neoh, whose sentence was backdated to Nov 28, could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined up to S$5,000 (RM12,861) for voluntarily causing hurt. ­— The Straits Times / Asia News Network
