Over the past 60 years, Korea has made massive economic progress from the rubble of the 1950-53 Korean War: Its GDP per capita grew from US$67 (RM219) in 1953 to US$23,067 (RM75,600) in 2012.
The economic achievement has been attributed largely to growth of manufacturing businesses and their exports, led mostly by large conglomerates.
