MALACCA: A Myanmar national paid a heavy price for offering a RM100 bribe to a public official to avoid arrest for staying in the country illegally.
Construction worker Mohamad Babul Abd Satar, 27, a Rohingya, was sentenced to six months jail and fined RM10,000 or six months in default by Sessions Court judge Amran Jantan for bribing Immigration Department officer Muhammad Aizat Ab Rahim as an inducement not to take action against him for working illegally and failing to produce a permit and valid travel documents.
