Dugong-like animal found dead at beach


Unusual sight: A beach-goer having a closer look at the carcass which was washed ashore in Batu Ferringhi, Penang.

GEORGE TOWN: Beach-goers in Batu Ferringhi who were assailed by a foul stench were surprised to find that it came from a decomposing carcass of a 1.5m-long animal believed to be a dugong.

Batu Ferringhi Community Security and Development Committee member R. Shivakumar said no injuries were visible on the carcass.
