PETALING JAYA: British composer Benjamin Britten once penned a national anthem for then Malaya but his composition was shelved in favour of the Negaraku, the BBC reported on Friday.
According to Alex Marshall, author of "Republic or Death! Travels in Search of National Anthems", the notable composer was commissioned by the Malayan government to write an anthem in June 1957.
