CAP: Act fast to save livelihood of 500 coastal fishermen


Mohd Idris: The daily catch has declined. CAP calls for the immediate ban of pukat buaya

GEORGE TOWN: The income of Balik Pulau’s 500 coastal fishermen has been drastically reduced due to encroachment by pukat buaya fishermen, said Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) president S.M. Mohamed Idris.

“The daily catch has declined from more than RM200 to RM30. The affected fishermen are mainly from Kuala Sungai Burung, Kuala Sungai Pinang, Pantai Acheh, Kuala Jalan Bharu and Pulau Betong.
