CM awarded RM300,000 in damages over defamatory online article


GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has won RM300,000 in a defamation suit over an article published in online news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT).

A High Court here yesterday ordered Penang Citizens Awareness Chant Group (Chant) adviser Dr Jimmy Lim Cheok Siang, FMT owner MToday News Sdn Bhd and former FMT journalist S. Karunakaran to pay the sum with interest at 5% per annum from the date of the decision to its full settlement.
