SHAH ALAM: An express bus driver was detained after he tested positive for marijuana under Ops Hari Raya on Monday.

Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) director, Datuk Valluvan Veloo said the 36-year-old driver was arrested at the Section 13 Shah Alam Temporary Bus Terminal here.

"We confiscated the driving licence and public vehicle driving licence from the driver who was scheduled to go to Johor when the arrest was made," he told reporters on Friday.

He said during the inspection, a tour bus carrying 42 passengers to Kota Baru, Kelantan, was detained around 10pm for failing to display the temporary licence (LPS) issued by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to provide additional bus services.

Valluvan said the operation, from July 10 to July 25, has conducted 759 inspections focused on three express bus terminals located in Jalan Reko, Kajang, Section 13, Shah Alam Temporary Bus Terminal and Klang Sentral.

He said the Selangor RTD in collaboration with the National Anti-Drug Agency also checked 60 motorcyclists and found 12 of them who tested positive for drugs under 'Ops Motosikal' launched in conjunction with the festive season from July 11 to yesterday (July 16). - Bernama
