GEORGE TOWN: The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) believes that the destruction of mangrove forests and water pollution are the main factors behind the poor harvest of cockles in Kuala Sepatang, Perak.
The consumer rights group said immediate action should be taken to resolve the problem in the country’s largest cockle breeding ground, claiming that production had dwindled from 28,000 tonnes to 13,000 tonnes now.
