Jawi officially drops appeal against bookstore manager's discharge order


KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) has officially withdrawn its appeal against a Syariah High Court ruling which granted Berjaya Books store manager Nik Raina Nik Abdul Aziz a discharge not amounting to an acquittal.

Syariah Court of Appeal judge Datuk Seri Dr Md Yusup Che Teh allowed Jawi's application to withdraw its notice of appeal which was filed on May 11.
