Dr M pours cold water on 1MDB restructuring plan

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) has poured cold water on the proposed restructuring of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), saying that the settlement of its debt would not answer questions on the missing billions of ringgit.

The former prime minister believes the move would not solve the debt-laden investment firm’s problems as it would be effectively giving up control of the company to Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
