GEORGE TOWN: A 47-year-old former carpenter was fined RM27,000 in default of 15 months jail at a magistrate’s court here for possessing RM2,688 worth of illegal cigarettes.
Magistrate Sri Pracha Nanthini Balabedha also meted out a five-day jail sentence from the date of arrest to Tan Ban Huat, who pleaded guilty to having a total of 31,800 illegal cigarettes found in a Proton Persona.
